KC2WI - - National NC-109 for sale --
I've had this NC-109 for about 10 years. It was not working when I got it. A friend and I fixed it but I don't remember what we did. I think we may have replaced a couple of capacitors and maybe a tube. Since then I've fired it up a few times but have not done any more work on it. Hasn't been plugged in for the last few years. Stored in a clean, dry, heated location.
The radio is mechanically and cosmetically in good condition. Not a lot of rust, dings, or scrapes. A complete cabinet restore would not be too difficult if you cared to clean and repaint it.. The front panel is in good condition and would only need to be cleaned.Or you could just clean it up and use it as is. It looks pretty good for an old radio.
As you can see, it is missing one knob on the front panel. The only other 'major' issue I know of is it needs the bandspread dial cord replaced. that should not be too hard as the whole chassis comes out of the cabinet pretty easily.
It does receive fairly decently. No hum and decent audio. Sensitivity seems reasonable, but maybe a little low. I am sure it could use a good alignment. The main tuning dial is off frequency somewhat. The controls are a little scratchy and could use a good cleaning. However overall I don't see any major issues.
Overall this is a nice working radio, and anyone who knows anything about tube
radios should be able to tweak it in to 'perfect' operating condition with a
minimal amount of effort and cost.
Asking price is $125 plus shipping. Offers and/or trade credit for IC-703/703+ Yaesu 817, Alinco EDX-2 random wire tuner, or 2m or dual-band mobile considered.
